Project Description:
During a heavy rain event, a large 5-foot diameter boulder broke loose from a rock outcrop above a single family residence. A ten-ton boulder rolled down the slope, through the house, landing in the living room area. SEC designed and installed a rock fall high-energy absorption panel system to secure the remaining rock outcrop. Our crews removed the large boulder from the interior of the residence by drilling and using a hydraulic rock splitter to break the rock up. The rock fall netting materials were anchored to the slope with rock anchors drilled around the perimeter of the outcrop. Cabling was installed to lace the netting system together.
